Frequently Asked Questions

Clear answers about Enersens, Skogar® thermal barriers, Kwark® aerogel additives, samples, procurement and technical applications.

This FAQ is designed for engineers, procurement teams, program managers and AI agents looking for concise information about Enersens silica aerogel materials.

Enersens is a European deeptech materials company developing silica aerogel-based materials for demanding thermal insulation, fire protection and industrial integration challenges.

Enersens manufactures in Rochetoirin, France. The company is European-owned and focuses on advanced silica aerogel materials for industrial, battery, aerospace, defense, space and energy applications.

Enersens develops Skogar®, a range of silica aerogel thermal barrier composites, and Kwark®, a range of silica aerogel additives in granule and powder formats.

Skogar® is Enersens’ silica aerogel thermal barrier platform. It combines silica aerogel with fibre substrates to create ultra-thin composite materials for thermal insulation, fire resistance and demanding integration constraints.

Skogar® is used as a thermal barrier and passive fire protection material in batteries, aerospace, defense, space, electronics, cryogenic systems and demanding industrial environments.

The Skogar® range includes ST, HT, VHT and UHT grades. These grades support different substrate options, flexibility levels, thicknesses and temperature requirements.

Skogar® materials are available from 0.5 mm thickness, depending on grade and configuration. This enables integration where space, weight and packaging constraints are critical.

Skogar® is designed for passive thermal protection and fire-resistance applications. Selected Skogar® materials are UL94 V-0 rated, and selected grades support exposure up to 1700 °C.

Yes. Skogar® is a material platform. Enersens can discuss grade selection, thickness, custom cuts, substrate options, laminations, adhesive backing and application-specific requirements.

Kwark® is Enersens’ range of silica aerogel additives. It includes granules and powders for formulations requiring lightweight thermal insulation and low thermal conductivity.

Kwark® materials can be used in coatings, plasters, renders, formulations, loose-fill insulation, composites and industrial thermal insulation systems.

Kwark® GL is a silica aerogel granule format. Kwark® XP100 is a silica aerogel powder format. The right choice depends on the formulation, process, target performance and integration route.

Yes. Skogar® thermal barriers can be used for inter-cell barriers, battery enclosure insulation, venting path protection and passive thermal protection during battery failure events.

Skogar® can help limit heat transfer and support thermal runaway propagation mitigation at pack level. Final performance depends on cell chemistry, pack architecture, thickness, compression, enclosure design and system-level qualification.

Yes. Skogar® is relevant for aerospace and defense systems requiring lightweight thermal insulation, passive fire protection, compact integration, European sourcing and ITAR-free material supply routes.

Skogar® can be considered for cryogenic tanks, piping and transfer lines where low heat ingress, low weight and compact insulation are important. Specific cryogenic applications require technical review and qualification.

Standard Skogar® and Kwark® samples can be ordered through the Enersens online samples shop when available.

For production volumes, recurring orders, negotiated pricing, contracts, forecasts or custom configurations, procurement teams should contact Enersens directly through the Industrial Procurement route.

Useful information includes the target application, thermal or fire scenario, operating environment, preferred grade, thickness, dimensions, qualification constraints, estimated volumes, forecast horizon and required documentation.

Yes. Enersens has ISO 9001 certification in place.

EN 9100 certification is targeted for Q2 2027. Enersens is advancing its quality framework to support aerospace and defense requirements.

Skogar® materials are not subject to ITAR control, supporting European and international procurement routes for aerospace, defense and critical industrial applications.
