# Silica Aerogel Thermal Barriers

Enersens manufactures Skogar® silica aerogel thermal barriers for batteries, aerospace and defense systems where thermal performance, fire resistance, low weight and European sourcing matter.

Skogar® combines ultra-thin insulation, certified fire performance and European engineering.

## Main product platform

Skogar® is Enersens’ silica aerogel composite thermal barrier platform. It is engineered for ultra-thin thermal insulation, fire-resistant thermal protection and demanding integration constraints.

Skogar® is available in several grades, from rigid ultra-thin sheets to flexible and semi-rigid high-temperature barriers.

## Applications and reference markets

### Batteries

Skogar® thermal barriers can help limit thermal runaway propagation while preserving energy density. Battery-related use cases include inter-cell thermal barriers, battery casing insulation, battery enclosure protection, venting path protection and fire containment support.

Relevant battery architectures include modular packs as well as CTP, CTB and CTC designs.

### Aircraft

Skogar® can be used for lightweight thermal insulation and fire protection in aircraft zones where thickness, weight, certification and system safety are design constraints.

Typical aircraft use cases include cabin insulation, engine bay insulation, turbine surrounds, nacelle hot zones, electric and hybrid aviation, eVTOL battery packs, power electronics and liquid hydrogen systems.

### Space

Skogar® supports thermal protection for space systems exposed to vacuum, radiation, cryogenic storage, thermal cycling, re-entry heating and planetary environments.

Typical space use cases include launcher cryogenic tank insulation, inter-stage thermal barriers, exhaust-zone protection, satellites, orbital platforms, atmospheric re-entry vehicles and lunar or planetary rovers.

### Defense

Skogar® supports ITAR-free thermal and fire protection for defense platforms where compact integration, heat resistance, fire resistance and supply chain traceability matter.

Typical defense use cases include missiles, hypersonics, thermal batteries, unmanned aerial, ground and naval systems, naval batteries, armored platforms, fire protection and infrared signature management.

Skogar® is manufactured at Enersens’ facility in Rochetoirin, France, by a European-owned company.
